Jewell (Bailey) Wood, 98, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late DeWitt Emanuel and Rhoda Ellen (Whittenburg) Bailey, was born on March 9, 1910, at Warm Springs, Ark. She died July 18, 2008, at Salem, Ark.
Jewell was united in marriage to Oral Albert (Slim) Wood, on June 15, 1935, at Salem, Ark.
She spent her working years as a nurse for the Fulton County Health Department. She was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church and a charter member of the Salem Sorosis Club.
She is survived by her sister, Erma Bingham (100-1/2 years old) of Lakeland, Fla.; many nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; four brothers, Claude Bailey, Cloyd Bailey, Earl Bailey and Clarence Whittenburg; and two sisters, Nancy Ellen Bailey and Notra Bingham.
Funeral services were held July 22 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were James Wood, Brent Wood, Owen Wood, Mike Sherman, Mike Turrell and Barton Teague.
