It's the people who make a town great

Thursday, July 24, 2008

I wanted to take a moment to thank the friendly people we encountered in Mammoth Spring, Ark.

My family was on vacation and decided to visit Mammoth Spring. On our way out of the spring our vehicle started getting very loud. We pulled into an empty parking lot to see where the sound was coming from.

We couldn't drive much farther without having it looked at. We just happened to look next door and there was Steve's alignment. He was very friendly and looked at our vehicle right away, and told us that a new wheel bearing was needed. He made several phone calls to find a replacement. The part could not be delivered to him until the next morning.

My husband and two children all looked at each other not sure what to do next since we were not familiar with this town. Steve told us he would lend us his vehicle to use for the night and told us where to find a motel. We could not believe this offer. It was very appreciated and unexpected.

I also wanted to say that we had a very nice night in this town, including dinner downtown at fishhouse restaurant where we had a truly southern meal of catfish, pickled green tomatoes and hush puppies.

My kids learned that a trip can be truly an adventure and there really are nice people still in the world!

Thank you from Wisconsin!
