Missouri primary nears

Thursday, July 24, 2008

OREGON COUNTY -- The Missouri Primary Election will be held Aug. 5.

In Oregon County two local races have developed, the sheriff's position and the northern district commissioner's seat.

Oregon County Sheriff Tim Ward has filed for re-election. He will face George Underwood and J. Stacey Hainey. All three have filed as Democrats.

Long--time Northern District Commissioner Buddy Wright will not be running for re-election.

Three people have filed for that position as Republicans. They are: Jerry Chewning, Edward Casey and Don Ross.

Four people have filed for the northern district commissioners seat as Democrats. They are: Brad Vest, Dennis Foulks, Jeff Hollis and Richard Todd.

Federal and state races that involve Oregon County include the U.S. Rep. District 8th Congressional seat. Incumbent Jo Ann Emerson has filed for re-election as a Republican. She will face Democrat Joe Allen and Libertarian Branden C. McCullough.

In the State Senate District 33 race, Republican incumbent Chuck Purgason has filed for re-election. He will face Democrat Eric Reeve.

One hundred and fifty third State Rep. Mike Dethrow will run unopposed as a Republican.

I was told that there was a sample ballot in your paper. I have tried to find that sample ballot and this article is what I got. Is it possible to find a sample ballot for the primaries?

Response by Webmaster:
