Norvin Jones and Betty Jo Grimes were married on July 22, 1948, at the Baptist Church in Braggadocio, Mo.
Norvin grew up in Hickory Ridge, Ark., and Betty Jo grew up in Braggadocio.
Norvin was in the 62nd Troop Carrier Group of the Army Air Corp and was a C-47 pilot in the Mediterranean Theatre during World War II. After the war, he and Betty Jo met at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas where they were both studying.
After they were married, they attended Dallas Theological Seminary where Norvin prepared to become a pastor. Norvin and Betty Jo ministered together in churches, on the mission field, and at Christian colleges for over 50 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Rose Hill, Kan., where they now reside.
Norvin and Betty Jo have six children, Terry Lynn (deceased), Becky (Bill) Thompson of Belle River, Ontario, Canada, Nancy (David) Tunis of Indianapolis, Ind.; Paul (Beth) Jones of Kansas City, Mo., Gracia (Martin) Burnham of Rose Hill, Kan., Mary (Lance Perry) Jones of Liberty Township, Ohio. They have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They describe themselves also as "rich in friends."
They will have three open houses held in their honor: July 20 at Bible Fellowship Church in Olney, Ill., from 2-4 p.m; Sunday, Aug. 3 at Foothills Baptist Church in Hardy at noon; Saturday, Aug. 16 at Rose Hill Bible Church in Rose Hill, Kan., from 2-4 p.m.
