The Oregon County Health Department has a program, The Oregon County Health Coalition, sponsored and funded by the St. Louis University Prevention Research Center, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, that allows ladies in the county, twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday through the month of July to participate in an arthritis aquatic class.
Instructors for the class are Nan Hall and Opel Johnson.
There is no charge for the class and the number of participants are limited because there is only one lifeguard, Charli Steed, on duty.
The city lets the ladies use the pool for free and Wallace and Owens donates snacks for the program.
"This is a non-stress on joints, keep the joints moving, low impact workout," said Shiela Russell, Oregon County Health Department director.
She said this is a great program and the ladies love being around each other and getting exercise at the same time.
