Underwood is new Oregon County Sheriff

OREGON COUNTY -- Local unofficial election results from the Aug. 5 primary election have been announced by Oregon County Clerk Gary Hensley.

In the sheriff's race, Oregon County Sheriff Tim Ward's term came to an end after receiving 785 votes to George Underwood's 877 votes. Stacey Hainey received 97 votes.

In the race for northern district commissioner, Republican Edward Casey and Democrat Brad Vest will face-off in the Nov. 4 general election.

Casey received 152 votes against Republican candidates Jerry Chewning with 61 and Don Ross with 51.

Vest received 242 votes against Democratic candidates Dennis Foulkes with 215, Richard Todd with 232 and Jeff Hollis with 205.
