Jeanie Deaton, 73, of Unionville, Mo., (formerly of Vienna, Mo.) died at her home July 25, 2008 following a brief illness.
Norma Jean "Jeanie" (Rice) Deaton was born Oct. 21, 1934, the daughter of Oscar and Reatha (McKinney) Rice.
She was united in marriage to former husband John Deaton in 1954 and to this union four children were born.
Jeanie grew up on a farm in Alton, Mo.
After moving to Vienna, Mo., She was employed by CMAAA for 23 years before retiring as a regional field director in 2003.
After retirement, Jeanie moved to Unionville, Mo. Jeanie was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church and later the Unionville First Christian Church.
She was also a 40 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Rainbow Chapter.
She is survived by: one sister, Mary Lou Kirkendoll and her husband Norman of Overland Park, Kan.; three children, Sharon Thomas of Milan, Mo., Stephen Deaton and wife Diana, of Falls Church, Va., and Sara Crossgrove and husband David of Unionville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: her father in 1972; her mother in 1987; and a son, Scott John Deaton, in 1983.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo. Pastor Gene Weece conducted the services. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery, in Alton, Mo.,
