Marjorie Ruth "Dolly" White, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., daughter of the late Murlin Joseph Portwood and Nina Smedley Portwood, was born on Feb. 18, 1933, in Harvey, Ill. She died Aug. 8, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 75.
She was united in marriage to Gilbert Dean White on Jan. 19, 1950, at Harvey, Ill. To this union three children were born.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: her children, Elaine Gibson of Harker Heights, Texas and Danny White and wife, Brenda of Mammoth Spring; her brothers, James Portwood and wife Heidi of Mountain Home and Norman Portwood and wife Pat of Kileen, Texas; her sister, Esther Burbridge of Harvey, Ill.; her grandchildren, Deana White, Justin Lingenfelter and wife Lacy, Sara Henslee and husband Lennie and Hanna Sacra; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; her daughter Nancy Boozer; a brother, Wayne Portwood; great-granddaughter, Katie Lingenfelter; and her father and mother.
Graveside services were held on Aug. 11 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery located in Fayetteville, Ark.
Local arrangements were made under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
