Robert Phillip Morgan, 91, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., was born on July 27, 1917, at Youngstown, Ohio, to parents Henry C. and Anna (Nager) Morgan. He died Aug. 7, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark.
He worked in the steel industry with Republic Steel in Youngstown and Pittsburgh, Atlas Steels in Welland, Ontario and Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio, where he served in middle management. Robert was active in the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers and served a term as chairman of the Youngstown Section. He was a member of the St. Albans Masonic Lodge in Youngstown, member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple in Little Rock, a 29 year member of the Turkey Mountain Men's Golf League and was active in the Horseshoe Bend Shrine Club.
Robert is survived by: four children, son Robert A. Morgan, daughter Gloria Gray and husband Tom, daughter Deanna Higginbottham and husband Larry all of Warren, Ohio, and Jill Finn and husband Terry of Evening Shade, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Marjorie; his parents; his brothers, Henry, Dan, John and Howard; and his sisters, Henrietta and Jean.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker's Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
