On Aug. 7, the rain came to our area and the Spring River senior softballers traveled to Jonesboro in the rain.
This downpour from the skies seemed to put a dampness on the mental spirit of the team.
The Jonesboro field was playable and their players were ready to go, but Spring River was not.
The defense for Spring River had problems and it looked like the offense was left back in Sharp County.
When this one was over, it was Jonesboro winning 11-2.
In the Trumann game, it was more of the same.
The offense just could not put together any kind of a rally.
On defense, the scorebook showed enough errors that if it was a man's shoe size, it would have been wide enough to walk on water.
Spring River seemed like they just could not get out of the river.
If it could go wrong, it did, and Trumann wins this one 23-5.
It's a safe bet that Coach Gary Bacon will have a lot to say at practice this week.
Joe Bonds pitched both games.
