Alma Elizabeth Hammond, 93, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late George Sherwood and Rachel Alverta (Sapp) Walker, was born Oct. 28, 1914, at Cureall, Mo. She died Aug. 5, 2008, in Salem, Ark.
Alma was united in marriage to Abe Millard Hammond on Feb. 22, 1936, at Mt. Calm, Ark.
Alma was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Church of Christ.
She is survived by: son, Johnny Hammond and wife Joan of Salem; three daughters, Berta Kinder of Centerton, Ark., Jula Scott and husband Joe of West Plains, Mo., and Lora Aldridge and husband Charles of Sturkie, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; two sisters, Nancy Hughes and Ruby Hawkins; two son-in-laws, Leon Sanders and Lowell Kinder; and granddaughter Debra Kinder.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Ark., with Bro. John Hodges and Rev. Brien Hall officiating. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Ron Kinder, Steve Kinder, Richard Kinder, Terry Sanders, Barry Aldridge and Donald Clements.
