Muzzleloader hunt on tap

Thursday, August 21, 2008

The Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications from youth hunters who would like to participate in a special muzzleloader deer hunt Dec. 13 and 14 in Ozark Isle Park at Bull Shoals Lake.

Eight permits will be issued to hunter education graduates 15-years-old and under (born on or after Dec. 14, 1992).

Applicants must submit a completed application form, including their hunter education identification number, by Oct. 10.

A random drawing will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Corps' Project office in Mountain Home to select the eight hunters.

An unarmed adult, over 21 years old, must accompany youth hunters during the hunt.

Youth hunters will be limited to muzzle loading rifles only. No center-fire rifles, handguns, shotguns or buckshot will be allowed. Application forms may be picked up at the Corps of Engineers Office at 324 West 7th Street in Mountain Home, or by contacting wildlife biologist Bruce Caldwell or natural resources specialist Mark Case by calling 870-425-2700.
