Ruth M. Kunkel, 90, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Aug. 13, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born March 4, 1918, at Evening Shade, Ark., the daughter of Dotson B. and Anna Belle (Graddy) Metcalf.
She was a homemaker, a librarian at Evening Shade for eight years, a member of the Extension Homemakers Club in Evening Shade and a member of the Piney Fork Church of Christ at Evening Shade.
Survivors include: one son, Jimmie Don Kunkel of Evening Shade; two sisters, Vista Finley and Madge Armstrong both of Monette; one granddaughter Lecia Holcombe of Newark; one great-granddaughter; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; one step-grandson; two step-great-granddaughters; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Jim Roy Kunkel; three brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Aug. 15 at the Piney Fork Church of Christ located at Evening Shade with Gerald Bolin officiating. Burial followed in the Evening Shade Cemetery located at Evening Shade with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Junior Runsick, Lloyd Campbell, Virgil Kunkel, Ronnie Qualls, Rick Holcombe and Lonnie Haley.
