THAYER -- A former Thayer resident has been named local favorite teacher by readers of the Jonesboro Sun newspaper.
Billie Henley, is a 4th grade teacher at Micro Society Jonesboro Public School. She is a 1974 graduate of Thayer High School and is the daughter of Ray and Betty Reynolds of Thayer.
Henley has taught in Arkansas public schools about 11 years. She spent three years teaching at Cherokee Elementary School in Highland. Henley has lobbied for educational reform with district, congressional and senatorial staff in Washington, D.C.
She graduated from ASU with a bachelor's of science degree in education.
She is married to Rick Henley. She and her husband have four grown children and two teenage daughters at home. They have 10 grandsons and a granddaughter.
