Quilted With Love

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Aug. 20 Country Quilters met for a workshop. The quilters created an assembly line to make baby quilts for babies in need. Carol Durham, spokeswoman for the quilters, said the quilts will be distributed to Izard, Sharp and Fulton counties. The quilters also give quilts to the Health Department and New Beginnings in Ash Flat. Nurses also give quilts to babies in the hospital and to mothers who give birth at home. Durham said their goal is to make 160 quilts for this year. Those who enjoy sewing can help the quilters and they don't have to be a member to help. The Country Quilters meet in the NAEC Orange Room in Salem every third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Above, Jo Barton of Salem, works on a quilt during the workshop. Photo by Emily McIntosh
