MAMMOTH SPRING -- Solemn Old Judge Days will be held in Mammoth Spring Aug. 29 and 30.
The festival will kick-off Aug. 30 at dark with a play "Relections in the Park." This is the 20th year for Solemn Old Judge Days in Mammoth Spring and will be the first time the three-act play will be presented.
The play was written by Martha Bennett, a Mammoth Spring resident. Music is a large part of the play and a scene from the Grand Ole Opry will end the play. The play will feature many local residents and will give some of the early history of Mammoth Spring including the Reunion and George D. Hay's visit to the city.
It is free to the public and will be held near the ballfield at Mammoth Spring State Park.
Musicians and crafts people are invited to play music and sell their products on Main Street on Aug. 30. An Antique Car Show will be held at the state park Aug. 30.
An Antique Glass Show will be held at Simmons Bank and persons wanting to exhibit their glass and china should provide their own table to display their glass.
A video made in 1983 during Mammoth Spring's Centennial will be shown in the Community Room of Simmons Bank during the day on Aug. 30. The video was made by Shane Baker and Dale Stevens and features interviews by some of Mammoth Springs's senior citizens who had lived in Mammoth Spring for many years and could relate many stories about the town's early history and citizens.
