Roe T. Cantrell, son of the late Walter Cantrell and Kee Jane Powell Cantrell, was born Oct. 11, 1912, at Pineville, Ark. He died Aug. 21, 2008, at his home in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 95.
He was united in marriage to Inez Welene Field on July 28, 1934. He was a millright and retired after 32 years at General Mills (Flour) in Kansas City, Mo.
Survivors include: his children, Jimmie Cantrell and wife JoAnn of Springfield, Mo., Carl Cantrell and wife Patt of Edwards, Mo., Jerry Cantrell and wife Jeanne of Independence, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Cantrell of Orangevail, Calif.; sisters, Ruby Evans and husband Everett of Salem, Maybelle Martin of Oxford, Adelle Standerford and Willie Rains of Wenatchee, Wash., and Lenora Yancey of Melbourne; a sister-in-law, Billie Field Updyke and husband Don of Garland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife; his son, Bobb; two daughters, Judy and Carolyn; a grandson, Marc; four sisters, Lois Caruthers, Lothie Martin, Pauline Campbell and Glendora Cantrell; and his father and mother.
Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in the Salem Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
