Izard County's Rachel Harmon shot an even-par 36 to earn medalist honors and lead her Lady Cougars to a victory at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne Aug. 26.
Melbourne's Lee Lewis and Sam Cooper tied for medalist honors on the boys' side, each finishing with a 38, to power the Bearkatz to a victory in the boys' division.
The Lady Cougars ended the day with a 138, good for first place by 15 strokes. Next was Shirley with a 153, while Salem shot a 154 and Melbourne a 184.
Izard County's Kiley Mettler shot a 43, with Sierra Riley adding a 59.
Annie Smith and Stephanie McCullough paced the Lady Hounds with a 48 apiece, with Laci Long firing a 58.
Maggie Cooper led Melbourne with a 50, while Emily Carroll had a 65 and Abbi Miller a 69.
In boys' action, Melbourne won with a team total of 116, while Salem was second with a 127, Izard County was third with a 142 and Shirley carded a 147.
Keifer Smith shot a 40 for the first-place Katz.
J.W. Blevins paced Salem with a 39, while Shane Smith carded a 43 and Matt Twilley a 45.
Izard County was led by Preston Harmon's 41. Caleb Cowan added a 49 for the Cougars, with Jake Dockins ending the day with a 52.
Not missing a step, Rachel Harmon once again captured medalist honors Aug. 28 at Mountain Ranch in Fairfield Bay.
Harmon logged a 40 for top honors in the girls' division, but with Riley missing the match due to illness, the Lady Cougs did not record a team score in the event. Mettler carded a 45 for Izard County on the day.
Shirley won the girls' division with a 161, while Melbourne came in second with a 173.
Cooper shot a 48 for the Lady Bearkatz, with Carroll adding a 61 and Miller a 63.
On the boys' side, Melbourne won its second event in a week's time by posting a team score of 130, fueled by co-medalists Smith and Lewis. Each carded a 43 on the day. Caraway posted a 44 for the Katz.
Shirley finished second with a 153, with Izard County a stroke back at 154.
Preston Harmon shot a 46 for the Cougars, while Dockins finished with a 52 and Cowan a 56.
