Lowther signs with Lindenwood

Michael Lowther, son of Clay and Jacalyn Lowther of Thayer, has signed with Lindenwood Univeristy in St. Charles, Mo.

Lowther received a scholarship to play football for the Lions, where he will be converted to defensive safety.

Lowther was a key member of the Thayer Bobcats footall team and his love of the game was evident in every play as the team made its way to the state championship game in the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis last fall.

Thayer's season ended with a 13-1 record, the best in the school's 75-year football history, making it one memorable year for Lowther and his teammates.

Lowther had 28 combined touchdowns, one of them a 99-yard TD run, 260 carries for 1,882 yards and 23 receptions for 389 yards on offense.

On defense, Lowther had 87 tackles, six interceptions and five pass breakups.

His honors for 2007-2008 included: All-State Coaches Association 1st Team running back, All-State Media AP 1st Team running back, All-District 1st Team running back, All-District 1st Team defensive back, All-district 1st Team kick returner.

Lowther also received an award for being selected All -Ozarks 1st Team defensive back.
