Jimmie Laverne Cherry, of Agnos, Ark., son of the late Edward Laverne Cherry and Dorothy Faye Godwin Cherry, was born Sept. 2, 1951, in Salem, Ark. He died Sept. 5, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, at the age of 57.
He was united in marriage to Joyce McCollum on Dec. 29, 1972, at Agnos. To his union two children were born.
He was employed by Cherokee Village Road and Street Department for over 37 years and was supervisor for many of those years. He was a member of the Agnos Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce, of the family home in Agnos; his daughter, Monica Cherry Bullard of Salem; his son, Marcus Edward Cherry and wife Brandi of Agnos; his grandchildren, Morgan Bailey Bullard, Dustin Conner Bullard and Molly Grace Cherry; his sister, Norma Jean Muse of Ash Flat; an uncle, Owen Cherry and wife Anna of Salem; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at the Agnos Church of Christ with burial following in the Agnos Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
