Joseph Lee Follin, 88, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Sept. 6, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark. He was born July 6, 1920, in Mortons Gap, Ky., the son of Squire Heady Follin and Virgie Emmaline (Ezell) Follin.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. He worked for many years for and retired from General Motors. He and his wife, Ruth, moved to Cherokee Village in 1988 from Indiana. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by: his wife, Mabel "Ruth" Follin of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Sandra Leigh James and husband, Reggie, of Newman, Ga., Carol Ann Bishop and husband, Michael, of Quito, Ecuador; two sons and their wives, Fred Thomas Follin and wife, Mary of Tennessee, and Larry Benjamin Follin and wife, Beverly of Ohio; one sister, Ruth Fowler of Morton's Gap, Ky.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one son, Gary Joseph Follin; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at the Reid-Walter Funeral Home in Earlington, Ky., with burial following in the Salem Cemetery at Mortons Gap, Ky.
