Jonesboro's David Johnson won the second of three handicap sweepers at Indian Hills Bowl Aug. 30, after defeating Kevin McCollum of Jonesboro 284-218.
Twenty seven bowlers competed for the prize fund totaling $794, and only the top five bowlers received cash. After five games across 10 lanes, the top five bowlers went into a single-game, elimination-style roll off. The top finishers after five games were:
Kevin McCollum, 1320; Charles Schreiber, 1280; David Johnson, 1236; Pat Wilder, 1167; Jim Stark, 1166
Other top finishers were:
John Foster, 1154; Steve McClung, 1148; Waymond Hall, 1146; Eugene Neff, 1145; Ray Griffin, 1133
Fifth place went to Pat Wilder of Thayer after he lost to Jim Stark of Thayer 199-190, for $64.
Fourth place went to Jim Stark after losing to Johnson 251-228. Stark received $87.
Next up was second-place finisher Charles Schreiber of Harrison. Johnson defeated him in a close match, 222-201. Schreiber received $120 and became the third-place finisher.
Johnson advanced to the final game and faced top seed McCollum. Johnson was lined up from his previous two matches and handily defeated McCollum 284-218.
McCollum received $191 and Johnson received $334 and championship honors in the second of three sweepers.
The next tournament is scheduled for Sept. 13.
