Cleston Doyle Sanders, 89, of Viola, Ark., son of the late William Bailey and Amanda (Hively) Sanders, was born on May 3, 1919, at Dolph, Ark. He died Sept. 13, 2008, at the Spring River Therapy and Living Center in Salem, Ark.
Cleston was united in marriage to Cora Lavena Oliver on April 4, 1944, at Salem, Ark. He spent his working years as a motor grader operator for the Fulton County Road Department. Cleston was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by: his wife, Cora Sanders of Viola; son, Kenneth R. Sanders (Patsy) of Viola; daughter, Janet L. Honchell (Bert) of Panama City, Fla.; two grandsons, Scott D. Sanders (Denise) of Wauchula, Fla., and Gregory A. Sanders (Amanda) of Conway, Ark.; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ada Lee Hamilton (Edwin) of Raytown, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; six brothers, Albert, Claude, Thirl, Joe, Perry and Jack Sanders; three sisters, Wilma Turner, Dellar Floyd and Vada York; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services were held Sept. 16 at the Flint Springs Cemetery at Viola, Ark., with Bro. Steve Spurlin and Frank Oliver officiating. Interment followed in the Flint Springs Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Ark.
