Sam Cooper earned medalist honors and helped the Melbourne Bearkatz claim the 2-2A District Golf Tournament Sept. 9 at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course.
Rachel Harmon was the girls' medalist, as the Izard County Lady Cougars also notched a district tournament title.
In the boys' division, Melbourne's winning team total was a 238, followed by Salem's 251, Izard County's 259, Hillcrest's 311 and Mammoth Spring's 355.
Cooper finished with a low score of 76 in the 18-hole competition.
Lee Lewis added a 78 and Keifer Smith an 84 for the victorious Katz.
Salem was paced by J.W. Blevins' 77.
Matt Twilley finished with an 82 and Shane Smith a 92.
Preston Harmon had the low score for Izard County with an 84.
Caleb Cowans carded a 87 and Jake Dockins an 88.
Mammoth Spring was led by Grant Lemonds with a 90. Cody Rose finished with a 128 and Austin Lemonds a 137 for the Bears.
Izard County's 141 was good for first-place on the girls' side of things, followed by Salem's 145, Melbourne's 162, Mammoth Spring's 164, Calico Rock's 171 and Hillcrest's 205.
Harmon's two-under 36 in nine holes earned her medalist honors.
Kiley Mettler carded a 41 for the Lady Cougs, with Sierra Riley shooting a 62.
Salem was paced by Annie Smith's 46.
Stephanie McCullough ended the day with a 47 for Salem.
Laci Long shot a 52 for the Lady Hounds.
Maggie Cooper paced Melbourne with a 43.
Abbi Miller and Haley Wheelis added a 59 apiece for Melbourne.
Mammoth Spring was led by Kaitlyn Haney's 51, with Leigha Pressley finishing with a 55.
Alex Blankenship carded a 58 for the Lady Bears.
Brandy DeLoach shot a 52 to lead Calico Rock. Emily Johnson added a 55 and Kaitlyn Fry a 64.
