Hardy invites everyone to "Join the Fun!"
Main Street in Hardy will be holding their first annual scarecrow contest. The art students from Highland schools will be putting together scarecrows to be displayed on Main Street, in Hardy, during the month of October.
Sacs have donated clothes to the art classes from their store for use in the contest. The elementary art classes will be drawing scarecrows to hang in the businesses' windows.
All area residents are also welcomed to join the contest. "This is a great family project," Marc Herring said. "They can just drop the scarecrows of at my store." Herring is the owner of Ozark Classic Crafts Mall, located at 116 East Main Street in Hardy.
Entries have the option of three categories for their scarecrow. The scarecrows can be funny, make it as silly as you want, traditional or scary, but not evil. Herring asks all participants to keep it clean. "If we don't think it's appropriate it won't go up," Herring said.
The contest will have two sets of winners, one set chosen by the public. The ballots for the people's choice votes can be picked up at most Main Street businesses and dropped off at Herring's store when they have been completed.
The other set of winners will be chosen by the city officials. Both categories will have a first, second and third place winner. Prizes have been donated by local businesses.
The scarecrow entries will be displayed throughout downtown Hardy in October. The winners will be at Loberg Park's Trail of Terror Oct. 31. Deadline For the contest is Oct. 10. for additional information contact Marc Herring at 870-856-2892 or Kim Wilson 870-856-3571.
Herring said, "We invite everyone to come out and look at the scarecrows."
