Jonathan Lee Hall, 26, and Sharla Kay French Hall, 26, both of Viola are charged with 16 counts of 2nd degree forgery. They were arrested Sept. 10.
According to the affidavits, the Halls took checks from Fred D. and Bettie J. Linthicum, of Glencoe, without their consent on July 1 and forged Bettie Linthicum's name on them. The Halls also used their own Social Security numbers for identification on the checks. They used the checks to buy about $500 worth of various items.
The Linthicums knew the Halls because Sharla is their adopted daughter. According to Fulton County Sheriff Walter Dillinger, Sharla stole the check book from Bettie's purse.
The affidavit for Sharla Hall states that other items were taken from the Linthicum residence. A chainsaw, two cordless drills, a new weed-eater, a used weed-eater, a battery charger, two electric saws, a new and a used vibrator sander, a belt sander, 12 T-posts, a push lawn mower, an antique push mower, a new trailer hitch, oil sucker rods, a grinder and 30 feet of 2-inch joint pipe were all taken from the home.
Bond has been set for both of them at $2,500 each. Their court date will be Oct. 14.
