It's that time of year again. Property taxes are due by Oct. 10 to avoid late penalties.
The Sharp County Collectors Office will have extended hours on Oct. 10, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
"We understand people work and things come up during the day," Charlotte Ratliff, Sharp County Collector, said.
"For faster service, I suggest people bring their tax bill in with their payment," Ratliff said. She said she expects the office to be very busy and when customers present their tax bill with their payment, it makes it easier for the office to process the payment.
Ratliff said there is a 10 percent penalty charge assessed on personal property after the Oct. 10 deadline and so she highly recommends trying to pay on time.
