George Lee Taylor was born July 28, 1934, in Wirth, Ark., the son of Charlie Taylor and Velda Louthan Taylor. He died Sept. 28, 2008, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 74.
He was a farmer and enjoyed working with his horses and mules.
George was employed by the City of Thayer, working for the street department for many years.
He was a Christian and a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Chuch for many years.
He is survived by: his wife Betty of the home in Scott City, Mo.; two sons, Waymon Taylor and wife, Jennifer of Litchfield, Ill., and Bruce Taylor and wife, Robyn of Scott City; one sister, Jane Rogers of Pocahontas, Ark.; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Jimmy Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Rose Hill Baptist Church near Thayer, Mo., with Bro. Wayne Guffey officiating. The arrangements are under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
