Robert Charles Ball, 82, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Oct. 8, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born Feb. 3, 1926, at Kansas.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He retired after 35 years from James River Dixie Corporation in Fort Smith. He was active in the UPI Union, Local 656 and was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Ball of the home; three sons, Scott Ball of Little Rock, John Ball of Sanford, Fla., and Freddy Reynolds of Texarkana, Texas; five daughters, Karen Sutton of Sanford, Fla., Linda Meredith, Anne Smith and Kathy Dunlap all of Melbourne and Kelly Moise of Searcy; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Sherman and Florence (Bell) Ball; one daughter, Linda Umland; and one brother, William S. Ball Jr.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
