Yard sale to benefit Restoration of Life Center

Friday, October 17, 2008

Running away from life's mishaps, either self-inflicted or fostered upon us, takes courage and a helping hand up. Spring River area residents have joined together to begin a way for women who want a new start for themselves but do not have the resources and mentors to help them attain their goals.

"We are asking for the help of our community to fund the 501 (c) 3 application for a nondenominational Christian, non-profit organization. To obtain the money for a non-profit status, a yard sale is to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18. Look for the sale at the RV Sales, Hardy Consignment, next to John's Auto Body on Highway 62/412 (between Pontiac Street and the north entrance to Cherokee Village)," a spokesman said.

Items may be donated and left at La Donna's Furniture in Horseshoe Bend, brought to the site early Friday/Saturday mornings, or call for pick up -- 870-847-5764.

This is a nondenominational Christian, grassroots attempt to give women a helping hand when they find themselves homeless or friendless due to divorce, victims of a crime or fire, just out of a drug or alcohol rehab center or jail. The name that has been chosen for this ministry is Restoration of Life Center. It is being designed for women who find themselves without hope, who are looking for a second chance at life, and who are willing to try Jesus as the answer. The women who will be attracted to this program will want to put their energy into working the program to become healthy, whole persons through the love of Jesus, believing that God can do for them what they cannot do for themselves as mentioned in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me."

"Restoration of Life Center believes that God will guide this program to be the way out spoken of in 1 Corinthians 10:13 ('But when you are tempted, God will provide a way out so that you can stand up under it'). Restoration of Life Center believes that our community can be that way out promised by God, through the support of our local churches, and private and public grants offering hope for today and encouragement for tomorrow to the women who become willing to work the steps of this program," a spokesman said.
