Nancy Ellen (Shelley) King, 82, of Ash Flat, Ark., daughter of the late James Thomas and Mary Ann (McConnell) Shelley, was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Lexington, Okla. She died Oct. 8, 2008, at her home.
Nancy was married to Robert James King on Feb. 12, 1958, at the home of James Thomas Shelley by Bro. Tommy Mills of Saddle, Ark. She was a homemaker and worked for several years for Hilton Poultry of Thayer, Mo. Nancy was a member of the Peace Valley Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by: her husband, Robert J. King Sr.; a son, Robert Jr.; a daughter, Ellen Mae all of the home; five sisters, Ruby Gillihan of Vineta, Okla., Rosa Haney and husband Othel of Wenatchee, Wash., Florence Shelley of Benton, Ark., Betty Qualls of Thayer, Mo., and Faye Tackitt and husband Harold of Doniphan, Mo.; two brothers, Robert Shelley and wife Helen and Bobby Shelley and wife Hazel all of Ash Flat; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; five sisters, Lola Shelley, Cora Williams, Maranda Jane Shelley, Lela Mae Jewell and Nora Shelley; and one brother, Roy Shelley.
Funeral services were held Oct. 11 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Ark., with Bro. Wayne Hurst officiating. Interment followed in the Hurst Cemetery at Mammoth Spring, Ark., under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were Bobby Shelley Jr., Winford Franks, Rick Hurst, Harold Tackitt, Stephen Shelley and Ray Sparkman. Honorary pallbearer was David Jewell.
