On a beautiful first Saturday of October, the third-grade Salem Mighty Mites took the field against the Melbourne Bearkatz, to start an exciting day of football action.
The game was a real tussle in the first half, but the Hounds were able to get things going in the second half to beat the third-grade Bearkatz 12-0.
In the next game, the fourth-grade Hounds were sure enjoying the nice weather and it showed in their play. Both teams scored early, but the Greyhounds were able to score often and beat Melbourne 28-16.
The fifth-grade teams were up next and the game was back-and-forth. Melbourne was able to come out on top by a score of 18-12.
The sixth-grade squads were the last groups to take to the gridiron. Salem jumped in front but couldn't hold onto the lead as the Bearkatz won 32-14.
