Deputies of Izard County seized several marijuana plants, processed marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia from a residence off County Road 145 on Oct. 7. Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that officers, working on tip, located the plants in a field near the residence. Once the plants, some as tall as 10 feet, were removed, a search warrant was obtained for the residence and outbuildings. During the search, a large quantity of processed marijuana was found along with items of drug paraphernalia. Formal charges are pending against the occupants of the residence to include manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and other drug related charges. The 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and the Arkansas State Police assisted the Izard County Sheriff's Department. An arrest is pending according to Sheriff Lawrence.
Joseph Edward Brown, 18, of Melbourne, was arrested Oct. 9 on a theft of property charge. Brown is accused of stealing an electronic device from the purse of a fellow student. Brown remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of bond.
William Wesley Boothe, 27, of Melbourne, was arrested the night of Oct. 7 on charges to include domestic battery third degree, false imprisonment second degree and public intoxication. Booth remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of bond in the amount of $2,305.
In another alcohol related arrest, Kelly Perkins of Franklin, was arrested Oct. 7 on the charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to register a vehicle. Perkins posted bond the following day in the amount of $1,310 and was released with a court date from the Izard County Detention Facility.
Troy Lynn Roberts, 23, of Oxford, was arrested Oct. 12 on the charge of disorderly conduct following a confrontation with his wife. Roberts was released the following day and given a court date.
Shonda Leann Loosey, 20, of Calico Rock, was arrested Oct. 11 on a Sharp County misdemeanor warrant. Loosey posted bond the same day in the amount of $1,150 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
James Lee McClain, 35, of Brighton, Mo., was arrested Oct. 8 on a criminal contempt of court warrant. McClain was released from the Izard County Detention Facility after posting bond in the amount of $1,310.
Larry Thomas Kelly, 34, of Cave City, was transported to the Arkansas Department of Correction following his parole/probation revocation.
