Raymond Edward Stroud, of Heart, Ark., son of the late John Allen Stroud and Elizabeth Mooney Stroud, was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Heart. He died Oct. 12, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 79.
He was united in marriage to Pauline Cochran on June 3, 1966, in Williford, Ark. He was employed by Cooper Communities in Cherokee Village for many years as a caretaker.
He was a member of the Heart Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Pauline, of the family home at Heart; his son, Jerry Wayne Cochran and wife, Donna of Hot Springs, Ark.; sisters, Ethel Hall, Stella Waltrip and Claudene Newberry and husband Leon, all of Salem; a sister-in-law, Martha Stroud of Heart; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: a brother, Loyd Stroud; three sisters, Letha Hollingsworth, Violet Hall and Opal Langston; and his father and mother.
Funeral services were held Oct. 15 at the Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in the Burks Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
