Curtis Ray Young was born Jan. 5, 1958, in Pocahontas, Ark., the son of Clifton James Young and Opal Macklay Young. He died Oct. 13, 2008, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 50.
Through the years, Curt built an extensive automobile retail and wholesale business in Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Myrtle.
He is survived by: one sister, Gayla Huddle and husband, Ron of Thayer, Mo.; three nephews, Tim Rhoades and wife Connie of Nixa, Mo., Jason Rhoades and wife Sherry of Thayer, Mo., and Eric Huddle of Thayer, Mo.; one niece, Brandi Wilson and husband, Terry of Ozark, Mo.; seven great-nieces and nephews; seven cousins; two aunts, Eva Thompson and husband Bob of West Plains, Mo., and Edna Armstrong of Cuba, Mo.; and a special friend, Trudy Banks of Thayer.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Clifton and Opal Young.
Funeral services were held Oct. 16 at the Myrtle First Baptist Church in Myrtle, Mo., with Pastor Earl Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Myrtle with arrangements under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
