The Salem Greyhound Mighty Mite football teams split a schedule of games with the Melbourne Bearkatz Oct. 25.
On a cool morning to start the day, the third-grade Hounds came out on top of a defensive struggle to win 12-0.
In the fourth-grade game, Melbourne's offense got rolling and topped Salem 30-6.
On an afternoon just perfect for playing football, the fifth-grade teams battled back-and-forth, with the lead swapping sides the whole way. The Katz were the last to have the lead on their side, and Melbourne won 20-12.
The last game of the day was full of hard-hitting action and Salem was not to be denied, winning 14-6.
Salem will host Highland for two nights of great football starting Nov. 3, with the third-grade teams playing at 5:30 p.m., followed by the sixth-grade squads at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 4, the fourth-grade game will kickoff at 5:30 and the fifth-grade game is scheduled to start at 7.
