A pair of hoopsters from Mammoth Spring High School nearly set the Panther Pavilion at Norfork on fire with their shooting abilities in the Twin Rivers Classic Oct. 22.
Jessy Jo Vest scorched the nets for a game-high 33 points in the Lady Bears' 60-16 shellacking of the Timbo Lady Tigers, while Seth Godwin exploded for 31 points in the Bears' 73-54 rout of the Timbo Tigers.
In the girls' game, the Lady Bears jumped in front with a 13-3 run in the first period to grab control. Mammoth Spring then outscored Timbo 24-8 in the second period to take a 37-11 lead at the half.
In addition to Vest's big scoring night, Shelby Frey added 13 points for the Lady Bears, with Bianca Paige and Erin Marshall logging 12 points apiece.
In the boys' game, Mammoth Spring opened with a 12-2 burst in the first period and closed the first half with a 9-1 run to take a 34-14 lead at intermission. The Bears remained in front 54-30 after three.
Following Godwin's 31-point, five-rebounds, six-assists, six-steals performance, was Wes Davis with 14 points. Trevor Vincent tossed in 12 points and seven boards, while Caleb Brown added 11 points and eight rebounds. Chris Young finished with five points for the Bears.
