The Izard County Sheriff's Department spent much of Oct. 24, investigating the burglary of three Calico Rock businesses. Some time the previous night, Bill Terry's Fishing Service, Jenkins' Fishing Service and Don Quixote Restaurant were forcibly entered and money was taken from each business. Guns were also taken from the Bill Terry business.
Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that information was developed at the crime scenes as well as a time line to when the crimes occurred.
Sheriff Lawrence said that John Morgan of Calico Rock, a recent Arkansas Department of Correction parolee is being sought to face charges of breaking and entering and commercial burglary. Lawrence said that Morgan is likely out of state and that a warrant is being prepared for his arrest.
During the course of investigating the Calico Rock burglaries, three individuals were arrested on drug related charges. Charged with possession of a controlled substance were Charles Fred Wade, 34, of Melbourne; Ronnie Lynn Mooney, 53, of Calico Rock; and Carol Ann Hawk, 51, of Calico Rock. Both Hawk and Mooney posted bond Sunday in the amount of $1,230 each and were released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
In a unrelated burglary, that of Jerald's Service Station which happened a couple of weeks ago, and a suspected arson of a vacant house, both in Calico Rock; Sheriff Tate Lawrence said that a suspect has been identified and that the person is believed to have left the state. Sheriff Lawrence said the investigation continues to determine that individual's whereabouts.
