Jobs may come to area

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Fulton County has the possibility of getting 50 to 100 additional jobs in the area.

Fulton County Judge Charles Willett said he has been meeting with a manufacturer from Alabama for the past month and a half. Willett said the manufacturer has a plant in China that he wants to relocate back to the United States. Willett met with the company's PR/Marketing executive, a representative from the company in China and the manufacturer himself Oct. 20.

According to Willett, the manufacturer chose the Fulton County area because he likes the small-town atmosphere. "We a very fortunate for him to consider coming to a small community," Willett said.

"The question is now, can we meet his needs?" Willett said. He said such needs include building sites, funding, employees and training.

Willett said there are several locations the manufacturer can build on. He said the company could use the old shirt factory near Preacher Roe Park as a temporary building.

"He (the manufacturer) has several ideas to help stimulate the economy," Willett said. "Hopefully, we'll have more information in the next couple of weeks."

What in the world happened to the company that was going to go into the old shirt factory building near Preacher Roe Park? That is why Timeless Treasures had to move out.
