Roy William "Bill" Rummel, 81, of Huntingburg, Ind., a former resident of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Oct. 26, 2008, at the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Ind.
He was born April 27, 1927, in Dubois County, Ind., to Karl and Theresa (Weisheit) Rummel. He was united in marriage to Geraldine "Gerry" M. Hoffman on June 17, 1977, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, Ind.
Bill was a retired farmer, a member of the Jasper Moose Lodge 1175 and the Duff Conservation Club and he served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Florine (Bordeaux) Rummel; one son, Randy Rummel; one brother, Ray Rummel; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" Rummel of Huntingburg, Ind.; four children, Eura Lichlyter of Jasper, Ind., Linda Kemper of Holland, Ind., Barbara Jahn of Dubois, Ind., Charles Rummel of Holland; six step-children, Cindy Armstrong of Houston, Texas, Diane Leinenbach of Jasper, Ind., Brad McCain of Huntingburg, Kent McCain of Velpen, Ind., Tim McCain of Bretzville, Ind., Brenda Rehl of Evansville, Ind.; four brothers, Dave Rummel of Huntingburg and Allen Rummel of Indianapolis, Ind., Ronnie Rummel of Huntingburg, Bob Rummel of Texas; two sisters, Jean Feldmeyer of Huntingburg and Mary Lou Peters of Huntingburg; nine grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 30 at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and burial followed in Mayo Cemetery near Duff. The Rev. Larry Morris officiated the funeral. The Marine Corps Honor Guard conducted military graveside rites.
