Thelma Lee Elliott Clayton Tucker died Oct. 27, 2008, at the Fulton County Hospital. She was born on Sept. 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Charles and Musgrove Williamson Elliott.
She married W.E. Clayton on July 4, 1942, and to this union three children were born, all surviving her: Rebeccah (Mike) Harber of West Palm Beach, Fla., Gary Clayton of Salem and Vicki (Karrol) Fowlkes of Salem.
She married Troy J. Tucker on May 23, 1976. They lived for many years in Norman, Okla., and returned to Salem in 2001. Troy died Aug. 13, 2005.
She was an accomplished musician, earning the Oklahoma State Ladies Fiddle Championship in 1978. She played the piano and a variety of stringed instruments, many of which were learned sitting on the front porch at Wild Cherry, Ark., playing and singing with her sister, the late Hazel (Charles) Rand, and her three brothers, the late Ivan (Bertha) Elliott, the late Austin (Trudy) Elliott, and her only surviving sibling, Thadeus (Doris) Elliott.
She is survived by: three grandchildren, Rani Clayton (Heath) Everett, Angela Harber (Fred) Angelo and Su-Lauren (Chris) Wilson; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial graveside services were held under the direction of Barker Funeral Home at the Salem Cemetery Oct. 30 with Bro. John Hodges presiding.
