The Earle Bulldogs secured third place in the 3-3A Conference, along with a trip to the Class 3A state playoffs, with a 54-36 home victory over the Cave City Cavemen Nov. 6.
Earle will host the Riverview Raiders for a first-round playoff game Nov. 14.
The Bulldogs' (8-2, 5-2) win over Cave City (3-7, 1-6) was propelled by a pair of touchdowns late in the first half.
Tied at 14-all, the Bulldogs got a big 91-yard TD pass with 1:28 left in the half to break the tie.
Then, after recovering an onsides kick, Earle used six plays to post its second touchdown in less than two minutes, taking the momentum, along with a two-touchdown lead, to intermission.
Chase Gorman racked up 146 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries for the Cavemen. He scored on runs of 20, two and one yards.
Quarterback Dalton Carpenter was 11-for-15 for 151 yards passing in the game.
Dakota Tuggle caught one of Carpenter's strikes for 60 yards.
Tyler Engleman added a 2-yard TD run for Cave City.
