Caraway tosses in 32 for Katz

Spencer Caraway had a huge night from the floor, while Chase Massey had a big night from the free throw line, helping Melbourne push past Mammoth Spring 55-47 Nov. 7.

Spencer Caraway tossed in a game-high 32 points for the Katz, while Massey (10 points) knocked down five-of-six free throws late in the night to seal the deal for Melbourne.

The Bearkatz led 9-5 after one, but the Bears cut into that deficit to tie the game at 18-all late in the second period.

Then Spencer Caraway went to work and closed the first half with six straight points to push the Katz in front 24-18 at intermission.

Melbourne opened the third period on a 10-0 burst to move in front 34-18.

Mammoth Spring did edge within four points and managed to outscore the Bearkatz 22-15 in the fourth, but Massey was clutch at the charity stripe and helped Melbourne knock off the Bears by eight points.

"I'm very proud of my young men for battling back against a great team like Melbourne and giving themselves a chance to win in the closing minutes," said Mammoth Spring Head Coach Jeremy Cude.

Kody Caraway tallied 11 points for the Katz.

Trevor Vincent paced the Bears with 13 points, with Seth Godwin adding 11. Colton Goetting recorded a 10-point, 12-rebound double, double.

In junior boys' action, Mammoth Spring beat Melbourne 33-18.

The junior Bears jumped on top 12-3 after the first period, en route to the victory.

Wayne Coffey led mammoth Spring with seven points and three assists, while Austin Hite grabbed seven rebounds.
