Eldon Ray Coil, 91, of Glencoe, Ark., son of the late Walter Coil and Fellie L. Cruse Coil, was born July 28, 1917, in Brooklyn, Ark. He died  Nov. 9, 2008, at his home in Glencoe.

He was united in marriage to May Rich in 1937 at Kennett, Mo. To this union two children were born. She preceded him in death and he married Jane Carter Miller on Nov. 18, 1987, at West Plains, Mo.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he worked at the shipyards in Los Angeles, Calif. He was employed as a welder by General Motors in Flint, Mich., for many years and he was also self-employed as a farmer.  He was a member of the church of Christ and attended services at Heart, Ark.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane, of Glencoe; his daughter Judy Alexander of Oxford; his step-daughters, Rhonda Slagley and husband DeVurn of Salem and Pam Morgan and husband Lanye of Durrant, Okla.; grandchildren, Carl Boles, Jr., Walter Ray Alexander, Joe Alexander Jr., Sue Fread, Barry Abney, Duane Slagley, Alysse Morgan and Ashley Morgan; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister,  Mary Elizabeth Harrell of Houston, Texas; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife; his son, Jerry Ray Coil; a granddaughter, Carla Boles; two sisters, Hazel Coil and Mamie Cunningham; brothers, Junior, Delbert and Charles Coil; triplet boys who died at birth; and his father and mother.

Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at the Cox Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following at the Burks Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
