Valley Springs jumped on top of Melbourne early and came away with a 79-47 victory in the title game of the girls' division in the Arvest Bank Tournament at Bobcat Country on the campus of Flippin High School Nov. 15.
The Lady Tigers led 20-12 after the first period and 43-24 at the half.
Sara Adams paced the Lady Bearkatz with 15 points, while Tori Rush added nine and Maggie Cooper seven. Maggie Caraway had six, with Kaylee Ables and Amanda Treat logging four points each. Kenzi Gillihan had two points.
In the semi-final round Nov. 13, the Lady Katz routed Green Forest 72-53.
Melbourne led 18-11 after one, 37-20 at the half and 53-36 heading into the final frame.
Maggie Cooper led all scorers with 21 points, while Maggie Caraway added 14. Kaylee Ables tossed in 13 and Amanda Treat 11.
In the quarters, Melbourne blasted the Cotter Lady Warriors 75-46.
The Lady Bearkatz opened the contest on a 23-2 run, and the game was over after that.
Kenzi Gillihan tossed in a game-high 17 points, while Maggie Cooper had 11 and Kaylee Ables 10.
Sara Adams tossed in nine, Amanda Treat had eight and Maggie Caraway six. Tori Rush finished with five, Hannah Billingsley four and Abbi Miller three.
