The Izard County junior Cougars fell to Cedar Ridge 26-24 in the title game of the FNBC Junior High Tourney Nov. 15 at Southside.
The junior Timberwolves were down 15-10 at the half, but outscored Izard County 7-2 in the third to take a 17-12 lead after three.
Izard County was led by Jordan Everett's 12 points. Trenton Hatman finished with six and Jesse Ball had three. Josh Ball added two points and 10 boards. Kyle King finished with one point for the junior Cougs.
The junior Cougars advanced to the finals with a 42-31 victory over the host Batesville Southside junior Southerners Nov. 13.
Hatman led the junior Cougars with 13 points, followed by Josh Ball and Everett with nine apiece.
Izard County knocked off the Cave City junior Cavemen 43-29 Nov. 12, paced by a game-high 21 points from Hatman.
Everett added 10, while Josh Ball hit for nine and King three.
Dustin Crouch led Cave City with 13 points, followed by six from Seth Downs and five from Tyler Poulette.
The junior Lady Cougars saw their run in the tourney end with a 34-30, double-overtime loss to Southside Nov. 13.
The game was tied at 22-all after regulation and 28-all after the first overtime. In the second extra frame, the junior Lady Southerners outscored Izard County 6-2 to post the victory.
Kaydie Campbell tallied 13 points for the junior Lady Cougars, while Amber Hall had 10 and Kiana Huihui three. Stephanie Shrable had two, with Jessica Moore and Sammi Wagner adding one point each.
