ALTON -- An Alton man, Arthur Bettis was killed Nov. 15, at 2:45 a.m., in a one-vehicle accident.
According to officer B.D. Pounds with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 19, five-miles north of Alton, when Bettis, 59, ran off the road and overturned the 1988 Toyota he was driving.
Officer Pounds reported Bettis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Oregon County Coroner Tom Clary.
