Samuel Niles Decker, 84, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., son of the late Leroy and Lowena (Sheldon) Decker, was born May 3, 1924, in Star City, Ind. He died Nov. 22, 2008, at his home in Horseshoe Bend.
He was united in marriage to Martha Ann Sims on Aug. 20, 1948, at Monticello, Ind. A retired teacher, he received his BA from Hanover College and his MA from Indiana University. He then studied one year in France as a Fulbright scholar. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. A long time resident of the Belgium, Wisc., area, he was employed as a teacher of French by the Shorewood School District.
He is survived by: his wife, Martha (nee Sims) Decker of Horseshoe Bend; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and two brothers, John and Dan.
