OREGON COUNTY -- The Municipal General Election will be Nov. 7 in Missouri. All three communities in Oregon County have positions open at their city halls.
Filing dates for those positions will be Dec. 16 through Jan. 20, 2009.
There will be two, 2-year alderman at large positions in the city of Alton. The incumbents who currently hold those positions are Glen Jenkins and Jason Smith.
Alton City Clerk Dinah Slaughter said anyone wishing to seek one of the alderman seats can file at city hall during normal office hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. She said on the last day to file, Jan. 20, city hall will stay open until 5 p.m.
Koshkonong Municipal Clerk Chris Trobaugh said there will be two, 2-year alderman at large positions on the Koshkonong ballot. The incumbents for those positions are James Stevens and Mary Mitchell. Candidates can file at the Koshkonong City Hall, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thayer Municipal Clerk Jane Yancy said the southside alderman seat currently held by Al Clark will be on the ballot as well as the northside alderman seat now held by Joe Barbee. The mayor's position currently held by Merle Williams will also be on the Thayer election ballot. All are 2-year terms.
Anyone interested in filing for a position at Thayer can do so at Thayer City Hall during normal business hours.
