Charges to be filed

Thursday, December 18, 2008

The three men who posted a video on You Tube of themselves destroying a home in Cherokee Village are going to face charges.

The Cherokee Village Police Department was made aware of a video on the Internet that looked like it had been filmed in the local area. The video showed three boys vandalizing a house, smashing a toilet, sink, mirrors and windows.

After the boys' pictures came out in The News and The Villager Journal the Cherokee Village police had several calls come in with tips and helpful information regarding the boys in the video. Chief of Police Jason French said the public was a great help in this case.

The location and names of all three men were obtained and two of the three have been interviewed by an officer. The boys in the video were minors at the time the video was filmed but are all three now adults. The homeowner of the home that was vandalized also came forward.

The homeowner had filed a police report on the vandalism in 2004. The video was posted on You Tube in 2006. Once all of the information was gathered the case was turned over to Sharp County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Garner.

Garner has made the decision to charge the boys as adults in the case. Cherokee Village Officer Shane Hightower is working on affidavits for arrest and warrants will be issued for the men.

The video has been removed from You Tube.
